Teacher Accountability Conference Pre-Conference Report
At the heart of standards-based reform lies a problem-solving and critical thinking pedagogy that today's educators must be taught. A system of educator accountability can provide incentives so teachers and administrators are motivated to embrace the new pedagogy and can give the public reason to support the use of additional state funds to underwrite significant new professional development costs. The acceptance of accountability may even be the basis for a shift in the funding of schools from local real estate taxes to the state personal income tax.
